I made a payment in the amount of $735.80 on August 30th and just received a second bill for another $775.86. I confirmed these amounts with both the billing company you outsource to and with UnitedHealthcare. I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with your pricing transparency policy, which apparently does not exist.
When I came in for my in-office visit on July 7th, I had provided my insurance information yet no one told me that I should expect the services to cost this much out-of-pocket. In fact, I was told that I didn’t even need to look at the pricing sheet because that’s only for uninsured patients. I now owe you over $1,500 for the services completed on July 7th, not to mention the cost of the bloodwork I needed to do individually. I’ve also been billed an additional $11.33 per shot, which you recommended I do twice weekly. The fact that you’d have the audacity to charge me over $700 for the serums, and then need $45 per month to administer them is truly unbelievable. And on top of all that, Dr. Sohn prescribed an inhaler that cost $80, which gave me thrush and I ultimately couldn’t use. All in all, I found this to be an unsustainable financial burden and have discontinued my shots.
Your lack of transparency in pricing is bordering on unethical. Why collect my insurance information if you won’t even let me know that I should expect to pay this much money out of pocket? I understand my obligation to settle my outstanding balance, but I hope you never rip off any other patient the way you have done to me. I will be sure to let friends and family know that your pricing is exorbitant and that you don’t alert patients to high costs of your services. You may have successfully scammed me, but please do better for others in the future.
