First do no harm. Dr Okocha, you and your support staff failed me miserably and then discharged me as a patient in the middle of this health crisis that was exacerbated by your office delaying my care for more than a year. My increasing frustration was honest, justified and well earned. You permanently discharged a patient in distress because I wasn’t going to accept being lied to and ignored anymore? Did you really think I was coming back after the abhorrent “care” you and your support staff were providing? Just another act of pettiness and cruelty from your Practice. I assure you that accountability is not abuse, but medical neglect certainly is and I have piles of evidence proving who is accountable for allowing me to get this ill. Why haven’t you personally reached out to the patient your inaction harmed? Did Steffy pass on the tearful messages I regularly left with her? Did she tell you how desperate I was for help? I begged her to help me. Then I begged the others for help. I haven’t heard your voice on the other side of the phone In nearly a year as your staff delayed the treatment you prescribed through sheer ignorance of the Prior Authorization process and your knowledge as it applies to my condition. Disgraceful. I have now been referred to the capable hands of Adult Immunology at John’s Hopkins Bayview….where you should have referred me to begin with since this was apparently WAY outside the scope of your offices capabilities. You, your staff your entire organization are going to have a lot to answer for in the delay of care that has now left me unable to absorb nutrients, medication and fluids. You have let me languish with chronic norovirus without any sort of urgency to provide a proper diagnosis OR care for over a year (despite tearful calls) and now the anti-nausea meds are no longer being absorbed leaving me nauseated 24 hrs a day. Why? That’s your karma to live with. I’ve taken down my original review, but now you understand the tip of the evidence iceberg I have to prove culpability. It’s not just my word against yours, it’s CareFirst, CVS Caremark and two wonderful Complex Care Managers brought on to help get a response from the negligent, dismissive liars you have working in support of your practices mission. That mission does not include integrity or compassion. MD Okocha, Steffy A, Erena F, Denise P and The Comptroller that signed this dying patient’s dismissal from your office are culpable and will all be held legally and professionally accountable for neglecting my care, but the questionable ethics and morality of your failures is yours to live with. I’m posting my experience with your practice on my professional LinkedIn page for the 221 healthcare executive leaders, doctors, lawyers and other medical professionals to see and share their opinions on the best way to move forward with making sure you don’t do this to a patient that doesn’t have my knowledge or voice. Your office has taken ZERO accountability or responsibility, so I will let these folk who have depended on my service for nearly 20 years take the course your office has placed me on toward a slow and painful death. I’ll let them watch as I struggle through this health crisis while they read the piles of email evidence your staff has graced me with. Except for the medical records that were “mailed” without tracking and never arrived…the same records that were faxed to my PCP illegible. I’m not asking for any more records. I’m not calling again. Im not emailing again, but im not going away.
Today I have home health coming to help with peripheral nutrition. Twice a week I report to My primary for hydration. All caused by your staffs delays, ignored calls, insurance requests, pharmacy request. I’m going to focus on getting well, when I do, I’ll see you in court. If I die, which is starting to feel pretty likely, you’ll see my wife with a team of medical professionals who’s friend you have harmed standing by her to support her. Your office will answer for the multitude of documented failures and the staff mentioned above will also have to answer for how they treated the patient dying at their hands and by their ignorance of the prior authorization process.
Yesterday, I was told by Denise Portero that my medical files were mailed without tracking. I am still waiting for those records and don’t believe that your office sent them. My medical records, that detail childhood sexual abuse, are either floating out in someone else’s hands or your office is continuing with its childish antics and didn’t send them. I asked Denise for her bosses name, but I suspect that is the comptroller your office had sign my discharge. You have a lot to answer for and I’ll have plenty of time to share my story now that I am medically retired from my business. I’m leaving this here, because if this happened in the ranks of my business, I would want to understand who’s responsible for the inevitable malpractice suit you will be facing…..from a medical professional that supported in hospital COVID-19 efforts, to be killed by norovirus and ignorance. Not going to be a good look for Premier Allegist.
This info, which is accurate and without embellishments, is being shared on every medical review site on the web and, since my “care” was at the Foxhall office, I will be filing licensing complaints on every licensed professional (including Dr Okocha the two MA’s) involved with the DC Health. I suggest you ask Ms Portero for every email communication between us, so that you can see how your “Clinical Manger” speaks to the patients they have harmed. Every word out of your staff has been a lie. I have every one of those lies documented.
Dr Okocha never even reached out to check on her incredibly ill patient that was regularly leaving tearful messages with the staff. That’s when neglect becomes intentional, right? Cover it up with lie after lie and then permanently discharge a dying patient who is fighting to stay alive despite your offices best efforts to kill her. I’m not dead yet, but I’m certainly aware of the damage your neglect has caused. Accountability. It’s coming.
