Miy 16 month old son was seen in the office and tested for a diary allergy. I was told he had a slight allergy to milk. The Nurse Practitioner stated he should have an epi pen. I was provided the informaton on how to use the epi pen and physically shown how to use it. I was told it would be called into the pharmacy. The doctor never addressed changing my sons milk or diet. I had to have his pediatrician recommend switching him to almond milk. My son is in daycare on a military installation and when I notified them of my son having an allergy and the doctor was prescribing an epi pen. They sent me paperwork that had to be filled out by the doctor before he could return to daycare.
I was unable to get a hold of person in the office to help get the paperwork filled out. So I ended going to his pediatrician and getting there office to do it for an expedited fee.
I take my son to daycare on Monday morning with the papers filled out they review and tell me my son can’t stay at daycare because the epi pen wasn’t provided. I called multiple times to the office to get a status on the epi pen. I got conflicting information. Next day I finally get a call back from the Practitioner stating he only has a borderline allergy and she didn’t recall him needing an epi pen. I reminded her that she literally showed me how to administer the epi pen. Then asked who told your daycre he needed an epi pen? Obviously I did. My son is in daycare 10 hours a day and they are caring for him they have to be aware of any medical issues.
At this point I am so confused about wheter he has an allergy or not? She said she would call the epi pen into my pharmacist today. I just need to know what is going on with my son and provide what his daycare needs in order for him to go back. I have missed over a week of work and paid for daycare services my child can’t even utilize because I can’t get the information I need in order to give it to the daycare.
Definitely would not recommend this office!
I am extremely frustrated.
