Today I went to your Greenbelt, Md. office for my weekly allergy shot.
I was then told there was an additional co-pay for each allergy shot I get weekly.
I explained to the young lady at the front desk that I had already had at least three shots and was never told of a co-pay.
She exclaimed it takes awhile for the insurance to figure everything out.
Whoa, I felt blind-sided.
I firmly, yet without any type of threat, said to the young lady this is not what was explained to me and that I’ll pay for this shot and will contact my insurance company concerning these payments.
A worker, named Mike then approached me when I was called to the back to get my shots shoved a clip board to me saying this is the insurance break down.
I said to him I did not need it since the young lady already explained that to me.
He then said, walking away “yeah getting all smart”.
I said, excuse me, “are you talking to me”.
This guy Mike turns to me in a threatening manner, “yeah I’m talking to you”.
I then said “oh you want to go outside and kick my ass huh?
I then asked for the office supervisor and his name and the office supervisor’s name and phone number.
It took awhile for them to give it to me and I was eventually called by Thelma Williams who promised an investigation.
I don’t feel at all confident with how her investigation will proceed or turn out.
My point is I did not come to that office to be accosted by an employee in a threatening manner and the environment definitely became hostile.
I sincerely doubt I will be going back to Premier Allergist for additional shots and I will inform CareFirst Blue Cross what transpired today to see if the shot serum can be transferred to another company.
I am totally dismayed by today’s actions.
I am a 61 year old man who is a Section Chief with the DC Government and I supervise an entire office that deal with all kinds of customer’s daily.
I do not expect to come to a medical office and be treated unprofessionally and disrespectful and threatened by someone who acts as if he is going to kick my ass at an allergy office.
Something needs to be done with that guy and that office.
