What is Sinusitis?
Sinusitis also know as a sinus infection is an inflammation of the sinuses usually caused by bacteria, infection or an allergy. Sinus infections often require diagnosis and treatment from a physician to cure the infection and keep it from reoccuring.

Diagnosis and Treatment
A physical examination by an allergist or medical physician is the most common way to determine if someone has sinusitis. Other ways of diagnosing sinusitis are allergy testing, x-rays and mucus culture.
Treatment for sinusitis depends on the type of sinusitis. Medications like decongestants, antibiotics and pain relievers may be prescribed to relieve the symptoms of acute sinusitis. For chronic sinusitis, medications or surgery may be recommended.
